I hope you all don’t still believe in the fact that back pain is as a result of ‘jedi-jedi’? Well, I was also guilty of this till science proved me wrong. In some cases, back-pain causes bowel or bladder problems and when this happens, see a Doctor!
Back pain is one of those things that make people see a doctor or miss work. It is a leading cause of disability worldwide. The thing is that we don’t see back pain happening to us because we are used to those things that are the major causes of back pain.
A lot of Africans have had back pains and some are still suffering from it but since they don’t even know the cause of the back pain, they continue to do those things that cause back pain.
Most back pain last for less than six weeks but if it is more than, then it is a chronic back pain that needs medical attention.
Doctors can’t identify or point out the cause of a back pain after a test or imaging study but the most common conditions linked to back pain are:
Lifting heavy things with the back: we are so used to carrying stuffs with our back and this stresses the back. Instead, use your legs to lift a heavy load, it sounds weird though but in case you don’t know to this, try lifting the heavy load by bending only at the knees, no twisting of the back, make sure your back is straight.
Excess weight: too much fat in the body stresses the back (that’s why I’m slim). Tell those fat people to start working out.
Age: old people can have back pain too. Like from 40 but exercising regularly at a younger age can prevent it.
Lack of exercise: weak and unused muscles in your back might lead to back pain.
Psychological conditions: people prone to depression and anxiety have a greater risk of back pain.
Diseases: arthritis and Cancer can contribute to back pain.
Smoking: smokers are liable to have back pain! The body would be unable to produce enough nutrients to the disks in your back.
That’s all i know about the causes of Back pain. Always Exercise regularly, don’t strain your back and if you’re too lazy (like me) consider walking and swimming. Eat well by maintaining a healthy weight. Stand and sit smart, maintain a good posture, consider placing a pillow or rolled towel in the small of your back to maintain its normal curve. Avoid lifting heavy things or get a partner to help you with it.
Also make use of a long broom or brush to sweep your room.
I hope this would be helpful. Please inform others about it. Back pain is very painful!
Thanks LOML.
